Strong Financial Performance
Amul Dairy, officially known as the Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited, recorded an annual turnover of Rs 14,099 crore. This reflects a growth of 9.2 per cent compared to the previous financial year, highlighting the cooperative’s steady expansion in a competitive dairy market. The figures were announced during the 79th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Amul Dairy and the 60th AGM of the Amul Research and Development Association, held in Anand.
Farmer Network and Milk Procurement
Speaking at the AGM, Chairman Sabhesinh Parmar said Amul Dairy works with over seven lakh milk producers. More than four lakh farmers supply milk daily. During the last financial year, the cooperative achieved an average daily milk procurement of 48.16 lakh kilograms. This scale of procurement continues to position Amul as one of India’s most reliable farmer-driven dairy institutions.
Higher Payments and Welfare Support
Amul Dairy increased farmer payments to Rs 1,028 per kilogram of fat. This marked a 9.39 per cent rise over the previous year. The cooperative also strengthened its welfare measures by providing insurance benefits worth over Rs 2 crore to the families of more than 98 milk producers. These steps reflect Amul’s long-standing focus on farmer income stability and social security.
Advances in Breeding and Animal Health
The cooperative made significant progress in animal breeding programmes. During the year, Amul used over 10 lakh doses of sex-sorted semen, the highest usage in India. The Amul semen station also received an ‘A’ grade certification from the Government of India. In addition, 3,894 embryo transfers led to the birth of 618 high milk-yielding calves, supporting long-term productivity gains.
Veterinary Services and Digital Tools
Through its 14 veterinary centres, Amul Dairy provided doorstep treatment to nearly 6.96 lakh animals. The cooperative also expanded digital herd management by fitting more than 2,000 cows with smart cow belts. These devices help monitor animal health and improve farm-level decision-making.
Expansion Across States and Infrastructure Upgrades
Amul expanded its milk procurement operations to West Bengal, Maharashtra, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Tamil Nadu. It also began procurement activities in Karnataka and Odisha. At Anand, the cooperative upgraded its infrastructure by installing new RO plants, soft water systems and automatic milk sampling facilities to strengthen quality control.
Sustaining Cooperative-Led Growth
Amul Dairy’s latest performance highlights the strength of the cooperative model. By combining scale, technology and farmer-focused policies, the union continues to support rural livelihoods while driving sustainable growth in India’s dairy sector.
