State Pushes for Rapid Growth
At the National Milk Day event in Patna, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced Bihar’s plan to double milk production within two years. He said the State has recorded strong growth over the last two decades. Milk production has tripled, and Sudha’s products now reach international markets.
Sudha to Expand Its Network
Choudhary said the government will expand Sudha Dairy operations to the block level. The goal is to link dairy units directly with panchayats. This move is expected to improve procurement, raise efficiency and give farmers quicker access to markets.
Managing Stray Cattle
The government is preparing an action plan to manage stray cows, buffaloes and bulls. Choudhary said new facilities at the block level will offer structured care for these animals. This step aims to reduce road issues, support farmers and improve livestock health.
Dairy Sector Driving Farmer Income
Animal and Fisheries Resources Minister Surendra Mehta noted that milk production has become a major rural industry. It has raised incomes for livestock farmers and created new job opportunities. Development Commissioner S. Siddharth added that the sector can increase farmer earnings even further. Additional Chief Secretary N. Vijayalakshmi said the animal and fisheries resources sector has strong potential to multiply rural incomes.
Training and Recognition
The event also featured technical sessions. Experts shared insights on best practices, new technologies and efficient dairy production methods. The government honoured individuals who excelled in milk production and distribution.
A Strong Step for Bihar’s Dairy Future
Bihar’s new initiatives aim to boost productivity, strengthen the value chain and improve farmer livelihoods. With plans to expand Sudha, manage stray cattle and increase production quickly, the State is moving toward a stronger and more organised dairy ecosystem.
