Chief minister Champai Soren lays foundation of ₹68 cr dairy plant

Jamshedpur: Chief minister Champai Soren on Thursday laid the foundation of the Rs 68 crore Medha dairy plant in Baliguma in Mango, Jamshedpur, which is a third for this project in the last 15 years. He said earlier the foundation of the plant was laid by the state govt in 2010 and 2016 but the project work failed to start on the ground. However, this time, his govt will ensure it is completed successfully.

An official of the Jharkhand State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation said the plant’s construction will commence soon after funds are made available to the agency by the state govt.

“Rs 68 crore is the targeted cost of setting up the plant. The plant will come up at five acre of land with a capacity of 50,000 litres daily. In future, it can be expanded to one lakh litres,” the official said. “The previous BJP government laid the foundations but did nothing beyond that. Our govt decided to revive the project and will get milk production started soon,” Soren said. The CM said the educated unemployed youths will get direct employment in the plant and many indirect jobs will get created for them as well.

He said upon opening of the plant, the rural people in surrounding villages will be encouraged to keep cattle. The CM said that the present govt is solely driven by the welfare of the people and development of the state. He said farmers, women and underprivileged sections of the community are the focus of his govt. Soren said BJP will be trounced in Lok Sabha polls this time adding that INDIA block will settle the candidature issue at the right time. Meanwhile, Jamshedpur east MLA Saryu Roy said the CM should have avoided laying the foundation stone.
