DCA Market Intelligence Expands EU Dairy Price Coverage with New German Benchmarks

DCA Market Intelligence, a leading Price Reporting Agency (PRA), has rolled out four new weekly benchmark prices for Germany’s dairy market—focusing on butter, cream, skimmed milk powder (SMP), and sweet whey powder (SWP). These benchmarks are designed to support price transparency, strategic procurement, and risk management across the dairy value chain.

Published every Thursday at 15:30 CET via the DCA Dairy Platform, these prices complement the long-established raw milk benchmarks for Northern and Southern Germany. The move aligns with DCA’s mission to offer region-specific, reliable pricing references tailored to evolving market dynamics.

“The launch of these localized benchmarks addresses the growing demand for accurate, regional dairy market data,” said Eric de Lijster, Head of PRA at DCA Market Intelligence. “This is a significant step toward more granular market intelligence for the European dairy sector.”

Germany’s Role in the EU Dairy Economy

Germany holds a dominant position in the European Union’s dairy landscape, being the top producer of raw milk, butter, SMP, and SWP. The addition of country-specific benchmarks allows for more precise contract negotiations, supply chain decisions, and price trend analysis.

This update increases DCA’s German dairy benchmark portfolio to six, supporting a more data-driven approach to market monitoring.

Northwest Europe Benchmark Expansion

Beyond Germany, DCA has announced plans to introduce new dairy price benchmarks for France and the Netherlands/Belgium market. This will bring their total to 26 dairy benchmarks, enhancing price visibility across Northwest Europe.

“With our expanded portfolio, we enable more informed decision-making for processors, traders, and cooperatives across the EU,” added De Lijster.

Improved Methodology Anchored in Global Standards

In tandem with the new price releases, DCA has updated its benchmark calculation methodology to align with IOSCO standards—ensuring global credibility and consistency.
