Vijayawada: Former Gannavaram MLA Dr Dasari Venkata Balavardhana Rao is likely to be elected as the new chairman of the Krishna District Milk Producers Mutually Aided Cooperative Union Limited, popularly known as Vijaya Dairy. According to reports, the decision has been taken by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leadership, with the formal election expected to take place during the dairy union board meeting scheduled for September 22.
Dr Balavardhana Rao, who is currently serving as a director on the Vijaya Dairy board, has been functioning as the acting chairman for the past few days. He took over the temporary responsibility following the resignation of Chalasani Anjaneyulu, who had earlier been re-elected to the chairman position.
The reported selection of Dr Balavardhana Rao comes amid discussions within the TDP leadership regarding the leadership of the milk producers’ cooperative union. Sources said the decision followed directions from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh.

According to sources, the process also involved consultations with elected representatives from the Krishna and NTR districts. Several MLAs reportedly expressed their support for Dr Balavardhana Rao during a Zoom meeting with Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra.
Following the meeting, Minister Ravindra is said to have conveyed the decision to the TDP leadership and the directors of the Milk Union. The reported consensus among the party leadership and board members paved the way for Dr Balavardhana Rao’s expected election.
