Bengaluru, India: Elmentoz Research Pvt. Ltd., a biotechnology innovator in precision animal nutrition, has successfully closed its maiden seed funding round with participation from angel investors in India and Norway. This strategic investment will catalyse the establishment of India’s largest Black Soldier Fly (BSF)-based smart protein facility, projected to process 2,000 metric tonnes of industrial by-products monthly through cutting-edge automation.
Set to launch in January 2026, the facility marks a significant leap forward in sustainable feed production, aligning with national goals to reduce reliance on imported functional feed additives and mitigate biosecurity risks in animal farming.
Elmentoz’s platform blends deep-tech capabilities in genomics, proteomics, and cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) manufacturing. Their flagship product lines—ELGROW and ELTIDE—incorporate antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) and immune-smart ingredients, targeting gut health enhancement, antibiotic-free performance, and disease resilience across poultry, aquaculture, and pet nutrition sectors.
This milestone investment supports Elmentoz’s larger vision of building an India-first, research-driven biofeed ecosystem that delivers environmental and economic benefits. The company’s AMP-fortified functional proteins aim to replace antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs), reducing antimicrobial resistance (AMR), enhancing feed conversion, and supporting long-term animal wellness.
Key Deployment Areas for the Seed Capital:
- Establishing India’s first advanced, automated smart protein manufacturing unit under cGMP standards.
- Expanding the ELGROW and ELTIDE functional feed product lines.
- Advancing proprietary AMP technology and its applications.
- Fostering strategic international research and distribution partnerships.
- Scaling talent acquisition across R&D, production, and commercial verticals.
Dr Jayashankar Das, Founder and CEO of Elmentoz, highlighted the urgency of prioritising nutritional security in India’s agrarian economy. “Our research-driven insect protein and AMP platforms ensure consistent amino acid profiles and robust gut health, replacing antibiotics with smart, safer, and scalable feed solutions,” he stated.
This development positions Elmentoz at the forefront of sustainable dairy farming, eco-friendly animal nutrition, and precision feed innovation in India, contributing to reduced land, water, and carbon footprints while supporting farmer profitability.
