Findability Sciences Launches AI Platform for Dairy Plant Operations

Findability Sciences has announced the launch of Lacta Insight™, a plant-operations product designed to help dairy processors improve yield, process stability, quality and energy efficiency. The product is part of the company’s LactaAI™ platform for the dairy industry and is scheduled to become available in India from September 2026.

Lacta Insight™ brings together data from production, laboratory, quality, maintenance and enterprise systems to help dairy processors identify potential yield losses, investigate their likely causes and determine possible operational actions.

India produced 247.87 million tonnes of milk during 2024–25 and remains the world’s largest milk-producing country. At this scale, improvements in milk recovery, process stability and energy efficiency can have a significant impact on dairy processing operations.

Connecting data across dairy operations

Dairy processing plants generate large volumes of information through multiple systems. Milk composition can change depending on season, herd and source, while equipment performance can also change over time.

Individual process readings may remain within acceptable limits even when several small changes occur simultaneously. Such combined changes can indicate an emerging operational problem, but the resulting losses may only become visible after laboratory testing or yield reconciliation.

Lacta Insight™ is designed to connect these signals and help plant teams identify developing problems earlier.

“Most dairy plants already have the information needed to identify these losses. The difficulty is that it sits across different systems and is rarely examined as one connected event,” said Anand Mahurkar, Founder and CEO of Findability Sciences.

Focus on yield, quality and efficiency

According to Findability Sciences, Lacta Insight™ is designed around several operational objectives.

The platform can help identify developing solids and product losses before they increase. It also analyses related process signals together to help teams investigate the potential causes of deviations more quickly.

Another focus is production stability. By identifying process drift at an earlier stage, the system is intended to help operators keep critical processing stages within their operating ranges.

Quality monitoring is another component, with the platform designed to flag conditions that could potentially place batches or product specifications at risk.

Energy efficiency is also addressed. The system can identify potential avoidable consumption of steam, water and energy across processes such as evaporation and drying.

Recommendations are accompanied by supporting evidence, a confidence score and a projected effect, allowing plant teams to assess the information before deciding whether to act.

Operators remain in control

Lacta Insight™ is designed as a decision-support system rather than an autonomous plant-control solution.

The operating team remains responsible for decisions, and the platform does not independently change plant settings. Operators decide whether to implement an action, with decisions recorded for review and audit purposes.

This approach allows the technology to support existing plant teams while keeping operational control with personnel responsible for production.

Designed to work with existing systems

Findability Sciences says Lacta Insight™ can connect with existing PLC, SCADA, DCS, ERP, MES, LIMS and process historian environments.

The company says processors do not need to replace their existing systems or install additional sensors simply to begin using the platform. Lacta Insight™ can operate within a plant’s operational technology environment, allowing production data to remain at the facility.

A hosted deployment option is also available, while customers retain ownership of their process data.

The platform currently supports butter, milk powder, milk protein concentrate and whey processing lines. It can also be configured for cheese and other dairy processes.

Processors can begin with a single priority production line and expand the system to additional lines over time.

Evaluation underway with Indian dairy processor

Lacta Insight™ is currently being evaluated by a major Indian dairy processor. The identity of the processor has not been disclosed while the evaluation is underway.

According to Findability Sciences, each implementation begins with an assessment of available plant data, current performance and measurable operational objectives.

Potential objectives can include reducing solids loss, improving recovery, shortening investigation time, reducing quality deviations and lowering energy consumption.

“An implementation must start with a specific plant problem and a clear baseline,” Mahurkar said. “That gives the processor a practical way to measure whether Lacta Insight™ is delivering value.”

Availability from September 2026

Lacta Insight™ will be available in India from September 2026 as part of the LactaAI™ platform.

Findability Sciences is also offering dairy processors a complimentary 30-minute Dairy AI Readiness Assessment. The assessment is intended to help processors determine whether their existing plant data can support a focused evaluation of Lacta Insight™.

The launch represents another step toward using connected operational data and applied AI to address yield, quality, process stability and energy challenges across dairy processing facilities.
