Dairy Operator Killed in Hisar; Protests Erupt as Family Demands Swift Arrest of Accused

Hisar, Haryana | August 2026 – A dairy operator was allegedly beaten to death in Haryana’s Hisar district, triggering protests by family members and supporters who demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible and financial assistance for the victim’s family.

The demonstration, which disrupted traffic at the busy Jindal Chowk for nearly two-and-a-half hours, ended after police assured protesters that the accused would be arrested within two days.

Protest Follows Post-Mortem

The protest began after the post-mortem of the victim, identified as Jivan, was conducted at Agroha Medical College.

Around 200–250 protesters staged a sit-in at Jindal Chowk, alleging delays in police action and calling for the prompt arrest of all suspects involved in the case.

Senior police officials, including the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), met with the family and assured them that efforts to apprehend the accused were underway. Following the assurance, the protest was withdrawn and traffic movement resumed.

Attack During Early Morning Routine

According to police, Jivan, a dairy operator from Surya Nagar, was attacked at around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday while travelling on a motorcycle with a trolley to dispose of cattle waste.

Investigators said a group of 10 to 12 individuals allegedly intercepted him and assaulted him with sticks, leaving him critically injured. He was taken to a private hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Dispute Linked to Cattle Waste Disposal

Family members alleged that the incident was connected to a long-running dispute over cattle waste disposal that began approximately six weeks ago.

According to the family, tensions escalated during the construction of a cattle trough at Jivan’s dairy, when his wife was allegedly attacked with a sharp-edged weapon. Police had previously registered a case in connection with that incident.

Authorities are investigating whether the earlier dispute is directly linked to the fatal assault.

Investigation Underway

Police said multiple teams are conducting raids to trace and arrest the accused, adding that the investigation is progressing.

Jivan is survived by his wife, Aman, and their five-year-old son.

The incident has drawn attention to the need for timely dispute resolution and law enforcement intervention in rural and peri-urban dairy communities, where operational disagreements can sometimes escalate into serious conflicts.
