Hisar Dairy Owner’s Murder Protest Intensifies as Arrest Deadline Expires
Tension prevailed in Hisar on Saturday after the family of dairy owner Jeevan, along with representatives of the Poonia and Kundu khaps, blocked a road while protesting the delay in the arrest of those accused in his murder.
Protesters Seek Meeting With SP
The protesters reached the mini-secretariat to meet Hisar Superintendent of Police Siddhant Jain after the administration’s 48-hour deadline for making arrests expired.
Poonia Khap president Shamsher Singh alleged that the protesters waited for three to four hours but were informed that the SP was out of the city and on leave. He claimed that the SP arrived at the spot shortly after the protesters blocked the road.
The protesters said they were dissatisfied with the administration’s response and demanded immediate action against those responsible for Jeevan’s death.
Family Demands Arrest Before Last Rites
The family has maintained that Jeevan’s last rites will not be performed until the accused are arrested.
Shamsher Singh alleged that the family had also been threatened with forced cremation. The khap representatives demanded stringent action against all those involved and said their protest would continue until justice was delivered.
Dairy Owner Attacked While Transporting Cow Dung
Jeevan, who operated a dairy in Gali No. 5 in Suryanagar, was allegedly attacked on August 4 while transporting cow dung on a trolley attached to his motorcycle.
According to the family, around 10-12 youths intercepted him and allegedly assaulted him with sticks. Jeevan sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died during treatment.
Dispute Over Cow Dung Disposal
The family has alleged that Jeevan had been involved in a dispute with his neighbour Ramesh for around one-and-a-half months over the disposal of cow dung.
The dispute reportedly preceded the fatal attack and is now part of the police investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jeevan’s death.
Khap Bodies Warn of Continued Protest
Representatives of the Poonia and Kundu khaps have joined the family in demanding immediate arrests and strict action against the accused.
With the administration’s earlier 48-hour assurance having expired, tensions have increased in the area. The protesters have indicated that they will continue their agitation until the accused are arrested and the family receives justice.
