Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Directs Action Against Milk Adulteration – DairyDimension

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed officials to strictly enforce laws to combat milk adulteration in the state. “The state government’s stance is clear – no adulteration should be allowed in milk, and customers must receive pure, unadulterated milk. Adulterated milk poses a significant risk to human health,” Fadnavis said.

The directive was given during a review meeting at the Sahyadri Guest House, where CM Fadnavis discussed the roadmap for the Dairy Business Development Department’s activities over the next 100 days.

The CM emphasised that milk adulteration harms not just consumers, but also milk producers and dairy farmers. The supply of adulterated milk results in lower prices for milk producers. To tackle this, a coordinated action between the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Dairy Business Development Department will be launched, he said.

Furthermore, efforts will be made to increase milk production in the state, with a focus on providing better facilities to milk producers through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The National Dairy Development Board is also playing a crucial role in enhancing milk availability in Maharashtra. The CM also noted an increase in milk production in Vidarbha and urged further efforts to boost production.
