PM Modi Launches ₹1,166 Crore Dairy and Livestock Projects to Drive Rural Growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for dairy and livestock projects worth ₹1,166 crore on 11 October 2025, giving a major push to India’s agri-allied sectors. Speaking at the event in New Delhi, he also launched two national initiatives, the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY) and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods and ensuring sustainable agricultural growth.

Modi said over 125 crore livestock vaccines have been administered free under PM-DDKY, with animal health campaigns to follow. He emphasised diversification through animal husbandry and fisheries as key to boosting farmer incomes.

Major dairy projects inaugurated include Mehsana Milk Union’s ₹460 crore milk powder and UHT plant, new facilities in Indore, Bhilwara, and Telangana, and the foundation for an integrated dairy and cattle feed plant in Andhra Pradesh. The North East’s first Livestock IVF Lab in Assam, set up for ₹28.93 crore, is expected to improve breeding and productivity.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated ₹303.81 crore projects under the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund and distributed certificates to 2,000 newly trained MAITRIs. These measures will enhance milk production, processing efficiency, and rural employment while reinforcing India’s journey towards Aatmanirbhar Krishi.
