NDDB, TERI, and Suzuki R&D have signed an MoU to promote renewable energy, circular economy, and rural development, aiming to enhance rural livelihoods and achieve sustainability goals in India.
In a significant move towards sustainable rural development, National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), and Suzuki R&D Centre India Pvt Ltd (SRDI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to advance initiatives in renewable energy, circular economy, rural development, and waste management. The signing ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Meenesh Shah, Chairman of NDDB, Dr. Vibha Dhawan, Director General of TERI, and Kenichiro Toyofuku, Director of SRDI, Maruti Suzuki.
Dr. Meenesh Shah underscored the significance of this partnership, describing it as a milestone in NDDB’s mission for sustainable rural development. By leveraging the combined strengths and resources of NDDB, SRDI, and TERI, the organizations aim to develop innovative solutions that enhance rural livelihoods while promoting environmental sustainability. Efforts in renewable energy, waste management, and carbon credit mechanisms will significantly contribute to India’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions in the dairy sector.
Dr. Vibha Dhawan expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting that the partnership will allow TERI to amplify its efforts in promoting sustainable practices in rural areas. She highlighted that this joint initiative will facilitate the implementation of advanced environmental practices, benefiting both rural communities and the environment.
Kenichiro Toyofuku remarked that for SRDI, this MoU signifies a crucial step towards deeper engagement with the dairy sector. He noted that the collaboration aligns with Suzuki Motor Corporation’s sustainability goals and will drive progress in both the automotive and dairy industries.
The event also saw the attendance of key figures such as S. Rajeev, Executive Director of NDDB, Manish Bandlish, Managing Director of Mother Dairy, C.P. Devanand, Managing Director of NDDB Dairy Services, and J. Charry, Deputy Managing Director of Mother Dairy.
