PM Modi Launches PM-DDKY and Pulses Mission to Boost Agri-Dairy Growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY) and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses in New Delhi, marking a major step towards sustainable growth in agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry, and dairy.

He inaugurated 16 projects worth ₹947 crore and laid foundations for others exceeding ₹790 crore in the animal husbandry and fisheries sectors, aimed at improving productivity and infrastructure.

Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh) stated that these initiatives will transform agrarian districts through innovation and technology, supporting over 10 crore livelihoods, with women comprising over 70% of the dairy workforce.

India’s milk production has grown 63%, fish output 104%, and cattle productivity 25%, the fastest globally. Over 125 crore vaccine doses have strengthened livestock health, with several states nearing FMD-free status to boost exports.

Singh said PM-DDKY reflects the Prime Minister’s vision of “Rural Prosperity to National Prosperity,” positioning dairy and allied sectors as pillars of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
