Innov’Space award-winning technologies target animal health, nutrition, reproduction and farm management
Rennes, France: The SPACE 2026 agricultural exhibition is highlighting a new generation of technologies designed to address some of the key challenges facing modern dairy farming. Of the 32 innovations receiving this year’s Innov’Space awards, 12 are focused on the cattle and dairy sector.
Among the 12 dairy-related innovations, 11 received one-star awards, while one innovation earned the prestigious two-star distinction. The technologies span animal health, reproduction, nutrition, housing, hygiene, farm management and livestock infrastructure.
From artificial intelligence-assisted reproductive diagnostics to automated vaccination planning and digital ration formulation, the innovations demonstrate the growing role of technology in improving productivity, animal welfare and farm efficiency.
AI-powered tools strengthen animal health and reproduction
The highest-rated dairy innovation is Pilot’Élevage Vaccination, which received two stars. Integrated into the Pilot’Élevage mobile application, the tool automatically creates vaccination schedules by combining farm protocols with individual animal information, including age, reproductive events and health records.
Another technology, BovIntel Pregnancy V2 from IMV Technologies, uses machine learning alongside ultrasound imaging to support bovine reproductive diagnosis. The system can assist users in identifying non-pregnant cows at an early stage, detecting embryos, estimating embryo age and selecting recipients for embryo transfer.
These technologies demonstrate how digital systems can help farmers and animal health professionals make faster and more informed decisions.
New approaches to parasite management
Animal health innovation also extends to parasite control. Anthelmogram, developed by INRAE, is an automated diagnostic test designed to assess the effectiveness of deworming treatments against parasitic worms affecting cattle, sheep and goats.
The test can help identify emerging resistance to antiparasitic molecules and support decisions regarding preventive and curative treatment strategies.
Improving hygiene and farm infrastructure
Several award-winning solutions focus on practical improvements to livestock facilities.
CanWash, developed by Holm & Laue, provides a dedicated support system for cleaning milk churns as part of the normal milking-system washing cycle. Meanwhile, Valisol’s recycled-PVC stabilising slabs provide farmers with durable, drained and non-slip surfaces for livestock areas, farmyards, holding pens and pasture tracks.
Skavska Tunnels’ ventilation ridge is designed to improve air circulation in tunnel-type livestock buildings while reducing condensation and helping remove ammonia.
Digital nutrition tools support better feeding decisions
Nutrition is another major area of innovation. Jaɓnde, developed by CIRAD and INRAE, is a free digital decision-support application designed specifically to help agricultural technicians formulate individual dairy cattle rations for African farms.
The tool takes into account local feed resources, cattle genetics, feeding systems and farm-level economic constraints. It aims to help farmers develop nutritionally balanced diets while controlling feed costs.
Another award-winning tool, Foodbasket7, provides an assessment of nutritional quality and environmental impacts, offering a broader framework for understanding food systems and the role of livestock products.
Digital infrastructure and farm continuity
As dairy farms become increasingly automated, reliable digital infrastructure is becoming essential. The Lely Hub provides a secure on-farm server for automated dairy operations, hosting herd-management software, farm data and backups.
The system connects with Lely robotic equipment and maintains secure data synchronisation with cloud services, helping farmers retain access to important farm information.
Sustainability, hygiene and livestock management
Other innovations address sustainability and operational safety. Allflex Europe has introduced recyclable cardboard packaging for bovine ear tags, designed to reduce plastic use.
Sanihouse, developed by Innovlap and Maison Bleue, provides a safer and more sanitary system for managing fallen livestock, using automated gates and a motorised platform to facilitate carcass handling and collection.
Vermot’s Scari’Bou service enables livestock pens to be scarified right up to walls, eliminating untreated edges and helping maintain cleaner concrete surfaces.
