Panaji: State govt has revised the Dairy Equipment Scheme to alleviate challenges faced by farmers in acquiring necessary tools for dairy farming, while reducing manpower.
The revised scheme provides financial assistance to farmers to purchase several implements and equipment such as dehorner, hoof trimmer, milking machines, cow lift and cow dung log-making machine, among others.
Farmers owning cross bred cows, imported buffaloes and indigenous breeds are eligible.
The applicants must be bonafide residents of Goa for last five years and own cattle shed with milch animals in the state.
The claims will be entertained, provided these do not exceed Rs 3 lakh as subsidy per beneficiary, and the benefit can be availed every ten years from the date of the first item purchased.
To release the subsidy, govt has mandated that the equipment should be purchased from authorised dealers registered with the directorate of animal husbandry and veterinary services.
Also, photographs of installed dairy equipment, especially those with serial numbers, should be forwarded to the area officer for verification.
