Vadodara: The Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd, popularly known as Amul Dairy, recorded a strong financial performance in 2025-26, with its annual turnover crossing Rs 15,114 crore, representing a 7.20% increase over the previous year.

The figures were announced during the 80th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Amul Dairy and the 61st AGM of the Amul Research and Development Association (ARDA), held at Sardar Patel Sabhagruh in Anand. The meeting was chaired by Amul Dairy chairman Sabhesinh Parmar.

Milk Procurement Remains Strong

Alongside its financial growth, the dairy union reported average daily milk procurement of 48.35 lakh kg during 2025-26. The cooperative now has more than seven lakh milk producers associated with it, including more than four lakh producers who supply milk to the union every day.

Amul Dairy’s expansion reflects the long-term growth of the cooperative model. The organisation, which began with a share capital of only Rs 100, has now developed into a dairy business with an annual turnover exceeding Rs 15,000 crore.

Key Performance Indicator 2025-26
Annual turnover Rs 15,114 crore+
Turnover growth 7.20%
Average daily milk procurement 48.35 lakh kg
Total milk producers 7 lakh+
Daily milk suppliers 4 lakh+
Milk producer payment Approx. Rs 1,035/kg fat

Focus on Farmer Income and Livestock Productivity

Amul Dairy also highlighted its continued efforts to improve livestock productivity and strengthen farmer incomes.

During the year, milk producers were paid approximately Rs 1,035 per kg of fat. The union also extended financial assistance to families of milk producers through its insurance assistance scheme. A total of 98 families benefited from the programme, receiving financial support of more than Rs 2 crore.

To improve cattle productivity, Amul Dairy has been deploying technologies such as sexed-sorted semen and embryo transfer. These technologies are intended to support better breeding outcomes and help farmers improve the productivity of their livestock.

The union’s 13 veterinary centres also provided doorstep treatment to more than 7.81 lakh animals, providing farmers with easier access to veterinary services.

Amul Dairy has additionally supported producers through initiatives such as digital cow belts, calf-rearing programmes and Total Mixed Ration (TMR) plants. Its semen station at Ode received an A-Grade certificate from the Government of India for meeting prescribed quality standards.

Expansion Beyond Gujarat

Amul Dairy is also expanding its milk procurement network beyond its traditional base in Gujarat. The union has extended procurement operations into West Bengal, Maharashtra, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Tamil Nadu.

The expansion is aimed at strengthening the cooperative’s access to milk-producing regions while supporting the broader growth of the Amul business.

The union is also increasing its international presence. According to Parmar, Amul Dairy has expanded its business into markets including the United States and Spain, with plans to enter additional international markets in the future.

The international expansion comes as Indian dairy companies increasingly look beyond the domestic market for new growth opportunities. Building a wider geographical presence can allow dairy businesses to access new consumers while diversifying their markets.

Cooperative Model Continues to Expand

Amul Dairy’s 2025-26 performance highlights the scale that India’s cooperative dairy model has achieved over the decades. With more than seven lakh producers associated with the union and daily milk procurement exceeding 48 lakh kg, the organisation remains closely connected to a large network of dairy farmers.

The combination of higher turnover, substantial milk procurement, farmer-focused initiatives, livestock technology and geographic expansion is positioning Amul Dairy for further growth.

With plans to strengthen its presence across additional Indian states and international markets, the cooperative is continuing to combine its traditional farmer-owned model with investments in technology, animal health and market expansion.
