Addressing the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) in Ahmedabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s robust dairy sector, asserting that it is experiencing a remarkable growt: world’s dairy sector growing at 2%, India’s at 6%
In his address, PM Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to farmer welfare and shared initiatives aimed at supporting the agricultural community. He pointed out that the turnover of India’s dairy sector has surpassed ₹10 lakh crore, marking a significant milestone.
The prime minister expressed pride in India’s status as the world’s largest milk-producing nation, with 80 million people associated with the dairy sector. He noted a substantial increase in milk production over the past decade, with a remarkable 60% surge. Additionally, per capita milk availability has risen by 40% during the same period.
PM Modi underscored the government’s focus on small farmers, citing the provision of Kisan Credit Card facilities to cattle and fish farmers for the first time. He highlighted the broader goal of enhancing the lives of small farmers, expanding animal husbandry, and promoting activities like pisciculture and beekeeping in rural areas.
These comments come amidst ongoing farmers’ protests in the country, with the prime minister’s remarks addressing the government’s efforts to support farmers and bolster the rural economy.
