Shwetdhara MPO Introduces Electric Vehicles in Dairy Transport in Collaboration with Tata Ace EV

In a move aimed at advancing sustainable practices in rural dairy logistics, Shwetdhara Milk Producer Organisation (MPO) has announced the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) for milk transportation, following a successful trial phase. The initiative has been launched in collaboration with Tata Ace EV, a light commercial vehicle platform designed for urban and rural delivery needs.

The integration of EVs is intended to reduce reliance on diesel-based transport while offering long-term savings on fuel and maintenance for transport partners. According to Shwetdhara MPO, the initiative aligns with broader efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of milk supply chains and contribute to cleaner, more cost-efficient dairy operations.

Two transporters have already begun using Tata Ace EVs as part of the rollout, with plans for gradual expansion depending on performance outcomes and cost efficiencies.

The shift reflects a growing trend in the Indian dairy industry to explore green mobility solutions as part of wider sustainability and climate-resilient supply chain strategies. With transport logistics representing a key component of rural dairy operations, the adoption of EVs is being viewed as a step toward eco-friendly dairy practices.

This move also corresponds with India’s national priorities on sustainable agriculture, clean energy adoption, and emissions reduction targets in food systems.

Further updates on adoption rates and impact metrics are expected in the coming months.
