Milk prices up Rs2/lt from today – DairyDimension

Indore Dudgh Vikreta Sangh increased the price of milk by Rs 2 per litre owing to the higher cost of cattle fodder. The new prices will be effective from Saturday.

The decision was taken in a meeting of milk suppliers on Friday.

The cost of delivering milk at doorsteps will be Rs 60 per litre, excluding delivery charges, while loose milk at dairy firms will be sold at Rs 62 per litre from March 1, 2025.
The association of dairy owners, milk suppliers, and traders claimed high cattle feed prices as the reason for increasing the consumer price for milk.

Bharat Mathurawala, president, Indore Dudgh Vikreta Sangh, said, “Prices of cattle feed have gone up sharply, and this is translated into high cost of rearing and milk production. Cotton seed oil cake increased, which is the main cattle feed. Considering the increase in input cost, the association decided to hike milk prices by Rs 2 per litre from March 1.”

Indore Dudgh Vikreta Sangh said the hike in milk prices will benefit 1.50 lakh milk producers of Indore district.
According to the association, which delivers milk at customers’ doorsteps twice a day, daily milk sales in the city are around 12.5-13 lakh litres, which is expected to reach 14 lakh litres from March. Per day collection of milk in Indore is about 12-12.5 lakh litres.
