Cargill has announced a strategic partnership with Biotech Farms to establish a new feed production line at the Biotech Agro-Industrial Complex in Tantangan, South Cotabato—marking a significant expansion of its footprint in Mindanao, one of the Philippines’ most vital agricultural regions.

The partnership aims to address the growing feed demand in Mindanao, driven by the rapid expansion of animal farming, agribusiness, and integrated food production systems.

“Feeding the Growth of Mindanao”

“This is about serving our Mindanao customers better — with the reliability, responsiveness, and quality they deserve,” said Sonny Catacutan, Senior Managing Director, Cargill Animal Nutrition & Health Philippines. He added that the move underscores Cargill’s long-term commitment to strengthening the local food system and delivering nutrition on a large scale.

Catacutan noted that Mindanao plays a pivotal role in the Philippines’ agricultural economy, and the Tantangan facility will allow Cargill to provide region-specific feed solutions with higher consistency and speed.

High-Performance Facility with Global Standards

The newly commissioned plant, selected after a rigorous evaluation against Cargill’s global benchmarks for food and feed safety, is now fully operational. It features modern milling technology and dedicated monthly production volumes to meet rising demand in South Cotabato and beyond.

According to the company, the plant enhances Cargill’s supply chain resilience, improves lead times, and reinforces its ability to deliver tailored, sustainable nutrition solutions across the region.

A Partnership for Impact

Biotech Farms, recognised for its expertise in precision agriculture, renewable energy, and circular economy models, views the collaboration as a force multiplier.

“This partnership is a testament to our shared mission of empowering Mindanao’s farmers with innovative, sustainable solutions,” said Rey Chiang, CEO of Biotech Farms. “Together with Cargill, we will amplify our impact using cutting-edge research, data, and global supply networks to drive productivity and sustainability.”

Since its inception in 2001, Biotech has been a key innovator in the Philippine agri-space, and this alliance with Cargill is expected to benefit farmers, processors, and rural communities by creating a more robust feed ecosystem.
