De Heus Animal Nutrition has strengthened its foothold in Western Europe by acquiring Voeders Huys, a prominent Belgian feed manufacturer operating plants in Bruges, Belgium, and Northern France. This move aligns with De Heus’ long-term strategy to grow through localised production and proximity to its customer base, especially in high-potential agricultural regions.
Over the past few years, De Heus’ Northwest Europe Business Group has emerged as a major player in Belgium, becoming a market leader in poultry nutrition. However, its operations were primarily serviced from Dutch facilities. The integration of Voeders Huys now gives De Heus local production capacity of approximately 250,000 metric tons annually, enabling quicker response times and stronger ties with Belgian and Northern French livestock farmers.
🇧🇪 Stronger Local Presence, Sustainable Future
“This acquisition marks a significant milestone in our journey,” said Gabor Fluit, CEO of De Heus Animal Nutrition. “Producing locally in Belgium and France helps us deepen our relationships with farmers and partners, while also reducing our carbon footprint through shorter supply chains. It's a strategic step in scaling globally while staying grounded in local communities.”
De Heus aims to leverage Voeders Huys' technical expertise, established client network, and regional understanding to diversify into other livestock segments beyond poultry.
“We are excited to build on the strong foundation that Voeders Huys has created,” added Paul Damen, Managing Director of De Heus Netherlands. “Their dedicated team and regional insight will help us deliver customised, high-quality feed solutions that meet the evolving needs of farmers.”
This acquisition also supports De Heus’ broader European strategy, which emphasises growth in strategic dairy and livestock markets through sustainable, high-performance nutrition solutions.
