Madhya Pradesh to Boost Dairy Sector: Sanchi Milk to Gain National Recognition

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh – In a significant move aimed at revolutionizing the dairy industry, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to bring major investments and strategic initiatives to Madhya Pradesh during the Global Investors Summit in Bhopal. Among the key announcements, the Madhya Pradesh government will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), paving the way for Sanchi milk to gain nationwide recognition.

Strategic Dairy Collaboration to Strengthen Sanchi Brand

The collaboration agreement, set to be signed on February 25 at Kushabhau Thackeray International Convention Centre, will be between the MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation Limited, its associated milk unions, and NDDB. While the branding of Sanchi milk will be elevated at a national level, the state government has assured that there will be no change in the name of the Sanchi brand.

To ensure a smooth transition and optimal execution, the Managing Director of MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation has been sent for advanced training ahead of the MoU signing.

Key Objectives of the Agreement

The state government, under Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, has taken this strategic decision to double the income of dairy farmers and increase milk production. The agreement, approved by the cabinet, will be implemented for an initial five-year period, with an option for extension upon mutual agreement.

Expected Transformations in the Dairy Sector

The MoU is expected to bring significant improvements in milk collection, processing, and farmer benefits. Some key developments include:

Milk Collection to Increase: Daily milk collection is projected to rise from 10.5 lakh kg to 20 lakh kg.
Expansion of Milk Committees: The number of milk committees will be expanded from 1-3 villages per committee to 9,000 committees, covering 20,000 villages.
Collection Centers in Every Gram Panchayat: Ensuring easy accessibility and streamlined procurement.
Boost in Processing Capacity: The processing capacity of milk unions will be significantly enhanced.
Expansion of NDDB’s Reach: The number of Milk Producer Organizations (MPOs) under NDDB will increase from 1,390 to nearly 2,600.
Milk Procurement Growth: The daily procurement volume will increase from 1.3 lakh kg to 3.7 lakh kg.
Doubling Farmers’ Income: The annual income of milk producers is set to rise from Rs 1,700 crore to Rs 3,500 crore.

Implementation of BJP’s Sankalp Patra 2023

The initiative aligns with the BJP’s Sankalp Patra, which prioritizes ensuring fair milk procurement prices for farmers. Through this MoU, the government is fulfilling its promise of streamlining the dairy sector and ensuring higher earnings for farmers.

To further support the White Revolution Mission, the government plans to:

  • Establish dairy cooperative societies and collection centers in every Gram Panchayat.
  • Increase the number of milk coolers, mini dairy plants, and chilling centers.
  • Strengthen Sanchi Dairy operations in every district with an investment of Rs 2,500 crore.

Impact on Madhya Pradesh’s Dairy Economy

This landmark agreement is expected to significantly boost milk production, ensure fair pricing, and create more employment opportunities in rural areas. With enhanced branding, improved infrastructure, and increased farmer income, Madhya Pradesh is set to become a major dairy hub in India.

The signing of this agreement marks a historic moment for the state’s dairy industry, reinforcing the government’s commitment to strengthening the cooperative system and making Sanchi milk a household name across the country.
