Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated dairy and livestock projects worth ₹947 crore and laid the foundation for new initiatives worth ₹219 crore under a national Krishi Programme in New Delhi. The move aims to modernise rural infrastructure, enhance productivity, and promote self-reliance in agriculture and allied sectors.
He launched the PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, focusing on sustainable farming and rural employment. Farmers from Jammu and Kashmir shared inspiring success stories that showcased innovation supported by government schemes and better market access.
Key dairy projects include UHT and milk powder plants in Mehsana, Indore, Bhilwara, and Telangana, and the first Livestock IVF Lab in the North East. Modi also emphasised the adoption of natural farming, improved livestock health, and the role of animal husbandry in income diversification.
Officials said these projects will generate new employment opportunities, improve the quality of dairy production, and strengthen India’s progress toward integrated and sustainable agricultural growth.
