NDRI Showcases Cloning Technology and Dairy Innovations at National Dairy Mela 2025

In a significant move to promote advancements in dairy and livestock farming, Rajbir Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), inaugurated the National Dairy Mela and Agri Expo 2025 at the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal on Thursday. The three-day event aims to highlight groundbreaking innovations in dairy farming, cooperative models, and livestock management.

Advancements in Cloning Technology for Dairy Enhancement

During his address, Rajbir Singh lauded the contributions of cloning technology pioneered by NDRI, which has been instrumental in producing high-yielding dairy animals. This advancement provides a revolutionary solution for farmers and livestock owners, enhancing milk production efficiency and economic stability in the dairy sector.

He further commended the institute for its pioneering work in mineral mixtures and high-quality animal semen, which plays a crucial role in improving breed quality and ensuring healthier livestock.

Empowering Farmers Through Cooperatives and Technological Innovations

Addressing the gathering, NDRI Director Dheer Singh emphasized the importance of cooperative societies modeled after Amul, urging farmers to organize themselves into collectives for increased financial security and operational efficiency.

He announced that NDRI is on the verge of making cloning technology commercially available to farmers, which will enable them to obtain 10-12 high-yielding dairy animals annually. This marks a significant milestone in livestock breeding and sustainable dairy farming.

Highlighting the growth trajectory of the agricultural and dairy sectors, he pointed out that while agriculture is growing at a rate of 3.5%, the dairy industry is expanding at 5%. This accelerated growth is a direct result of scientific advancements and technological integration in dairy farming, leading to an increase in per capita milk availability.

Future Prospects and Industry Impact

The National Dairy Mela and Agri Expo 2025 serves as a platform for knowledge-sharing, technological demonstration, and networking among dairy farmers, researchers, and industry stakeholders. By fostering scientific innovation and cooperative development, NDRI aims to redefine India’s dairy landscape, ensuring economic upliftment for farmers and enhanced milk production capabilities across the country.

With cutting-edge cloning technology, high-quality breeding programs, and a push for cooperative models, India’s dairy sector is poised for transformative growth, reinforcing its status as the world’s largest milk producer.
