🥛 OMFED Launches Micro-ATMs to Strengthen Financial Inclusion for Dairy Farmers in Odisha
The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has introduced micro-ATMs at milk cooperative societies to improve banking accessibility for dairy farmers across the state. The initiative aims to provide farmers with faster, safer, and more convenient access to their milk payment earnings while promoting financial inclusion in rural areas.
💳 Bringing Banking Closer to Dairy Farmers
OMFED has distributed micro-ATMs to 55 milk cooperative societies, covering:
- 🏘️ 35 societies in Cuttack district
- 🌾 20 societies in Sambalpur district
The initiative has been implemented in collaboration with the Odisha State Cooperative Bank, allowing farmers to perform secure banking transactions directly from their local cooperative societies.
🚜 Reducing Travel and Improving Convenience
According to OMFED Managing Director Vijay Amruta Kulange, many dairy farmers previously had to travel long distances to withdraw milk payment dues from banks. The challenge became even greater during the monsoon season when transportation was difficult.
With the installation of micro-ATMs, farmers can now:
- 💵 Withdraw milk payment dues locally
- 🏦 Access essential banking services
- 🔒 Complete secure and transparent financial transactions
- ⏱️ Save both travel time and expenses
🌱 Supporting Rural Financial Inclusion
The deployment of micro-ATMs represents another step toward the digital transformation of Odisha’s dairy cooperative network. By integrating banking services with milk collection societies, OMFED aims to improve financial accessibility while ensuring timely payments to dairy farmers.
The initiative is expected to strengthen the cooperative ecosystem and provide greater convenience for thousands of milk producers across the state.
