🥛 Wardha’s Goras Bhandar Resumes Milk Collection Following High Court Relief

Wardha’s historic Goras Bhandar has resumed milk collection after the High Court allowed the institution to restart production and sales, bringing relief to dairy farmers and customers affected by its temporary closure.

⚖️ High Court Clears Operations

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had sealed Goras Bhandar’s premises in early June, citing hygiene concerns and halting milk production and sales. However, on 7 July, the High Court declared the FDA’s action illegal and directed authorities to allow the institution to resume operations.

🥛 Milk Collection Restarts

Milk procurement has resumed at the main collection centre, with approximately 2,000 litres of milk being collected daily. The management expects procurement volumes to increase steadily as operations return to normal.

🐄 Relief for Dairy Farmers

The closure had disrupted the livelihoods of local dairy farmers and created uncertainty among customers. The action also sparked protests by farmers and social organisations, with demonstrations and milk being poured onto roads to oppose the shutdown.

🔧 Operations Resume After Repairs

Although the High Court granted permission to reopen earlier, production resumed only after essential repair work at the facility was completed. The reopening is expected to restore confidence among milk producers and strengthen the local dairy supply chain.

As one of Wardha’s pre-independence dairy institutions, Goras Bhandar continues to play an important role in supporting regional dairy farmers and milk distribution.
