Tamil Nadu Shines in Padma Awards 2025: RG Chandramogan Among the Honorees

CHENNAI: Thirteen eminent personalities from Tamil Nadu have been recognized with the prestigious Padma Awards for 2025, making the state the second highest in recipients this year. Among them is RG Chandramogan, the visionary entrepreneur behind Hatsun Agro Products, who has been honored with the Padma Shri for his remarkable contributions to the dairy industry.

RG Chandramogan, a native of Virudhunagar district, is the Chairman of Hatsun Agro Products, India’s largest private sector dairy company. Under his leadership, Hatsun Agro has revolutionized the dairy landscape in India with innovative products and a commitment to quality. The company, known for its popular brands like Arokya Milk, Arun Ice Creams, and Ibaco, has not only dominated the market but also empowered thousands of rural dairy farmers by creating a sustainable ecosystem. Chandramogan’s journey from modest beginnings to leading a multi-billion-dollar enterprise is an inspiring story of perseverance and vision.

The other notable awardees include film star Ajith Kumar, who is being recognized for his contributions to Tamil cinema and motorsport, and recently retired cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, celebrated as India’s second-highest wicket-taker with 765 wickets across 287 matches. Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti, a textile magnate and philanthropist, was awarded the Padma Bhushan for his contributions to arts and culture, while actor-danseuse Shobana also received the Padma Bhushan for her work in performing arts.

Other Padma Shri recipients include celebrated chef K Damodaran, journalist-editor Lakshmipathy Ramasubbaiyer, and Parai artiste Velu Aasan, along with personalities from diverse fields such as Mridangam maestro Guruvayur Dorai, theoretical physicist MD Srinivas, therukoothu performer Purusai Kanappa Sambandan, sculptor Radhakrishnan Devasenapathy, and scholar-researcher Seeni Viswanathan, known for his efforts in preserving and collating poet Subramania Bharati’s works.

RG Chandramogan’s recognition shines a spotlight on the significant role of entrepreneurship in driving change at the grassroots level. Through Hatsun Agro’s extensive network, he has enhanced rural livelihoods, brought modernized dairy practices to the forefront, and established India as a global player in the dairy industry.
